Baby slings have been around for a while. I don’t know if they were around when my boys were babies or not, but I didn’t know about them. I wish I had. They look so nice and comfy! I know my boys would have loved them because they loved being carried around as much as I could as it was.  They didn’t have slings when I was a baby either, but my mom made her own for me,  with a silk scarf.  She loved it because she could tie me to her body and do all her house cleaning or shopping without having to worry about me.  That’s why so many moms love using them.  They are convienient and comfortable for both mom and baby.   So when I heard about the CPSC giving out a warning against baby slings and all the news coverage of the baby’s deaths, I knew I had to learn more about them and what was going on. Do you watch it?  OMG!  I love this show and have from the very beginning.  Mostly I think because my mom was always such a talented seamstress, and I always wished I could be like her.  I can’t, and really have NO desire to learn to sew or design clothes.  But this is such a fun show!

My Health:

So, After I was diagnosed with gallstones I stopped eating so much fat.  I ended up losing 15 lbs in almost as many days.  Then over the holidays, I didn’t stick to my diet and I gained 5 lbs back.  Well since New years, I’ve stuck to my diet much better and have lost 7 lbs so far.  I”m feeling really good, even cute!  So this whole “eating right” thing is working pretty nicely for me. The writing prompt is from Build Creative Writing Ideas from his 20 free writing prompts page.  The one that I felt I needed to use was this one:

18. Describe the last time you cried that didn’t relate to a movie, television show, play or book.

The last time I cried that wasn’t realted to a movie, tv show, play or book (which happens quite often actually) was on Saturday, Jan 24, 2009.  Just a short 4 days ago.  I found out something that happened recently that not only hurt me, but my mom and older sister as well.  My neice, who is my brother’s youngest daughter, is getting married this summer.  Which should be a happy thing, but it’s not… at least not for the family members out here in Las Vegas.  You see, my mother and I are specifically, by  name, not invited to the wedding.  Not on accident, not out of respect, or anything good.. but out of simple petty meanness.

This isn’t a short story that can be explained in a few paragraphs, so bare with me here while I go back in time almost a decade (wow it’s really been that long!?). Read the rest of this entry »

So today is day 8.  To be honest, I wasn’t very good at keeping up everything that I wanted to do during the first 8 days.  But I’m trying to go with the flow, and forget about what I don’t do, and concentrate on what I WILL do, today!  Today I did my upper body work out, which I think I was actually supposed to do that yesterday, but I got all confused, and I wanted to play with my new actually it’s an old, toy. A mother is driving her little girl to her friend’s house for a play date.

‘Mommy,’ the little girl asks, ‘how old are you?’

‘Honey, you are not supposed to ask a lady her age,’ the mother replied.
‘It’s not polite.’

‘OK’, the little girl says, ‘How much do you weigh?’

‘Now really,’ the mother says, ‘those are personal questions and are really none of your business.’

Undaunted, the little girl asks, ‘Why did you and Daddy get a divorce?’

‘That’s enough questions, young lady! Honestly!’ The exasperated mother walks away as the two friends begin to play.

‘My Mom won’t tell me anything about her,’ the little girl says to her friend.

‘Well,’ says the friend, ‘all you need to do is look at her driver’s license. It’s like a report card, it has everything on it.’

Later that night the little girl says to her mother, ‘I know how old you are. You are 32.’

The mother is surprised and asks, ‘How did you find that out?

‘I also know that you weigh 130 pounds.’

The mother is past surprised and shocked now.

‘How in Heaven’s name did you find that out?’

‘And,’ the little girl says triumphantly,’I know why you and daddy got a divorce.’

‘Oh really?’ the mother asks. ‘Why?’

‘Because you got an F in sex.’

Ok, so yesterday was Sunday, and I didn’t blog my blessings yesterday.  I”m doing it today anyway because I want to show my gratitude to the Universe, and the Universe doesn’t really care what day I thank it.  So there

My youngest has quite an imagination.  Today he was tell my b/f and I all about what he would do if he won the Lottery and a ton of money.  Evidently my b/f, Steve told Jack that he should put some of the money into a “C.D.” (certificate of deposit).  Well, at dinner Steve ask Jack what he learned today.  Jack said “I learned that instead of buying a big wharehouse, I should be my money into a disc! 

Of course I just started breaking up laughing, while Steve looked at my like I was crazy.  Then I told him, he means compact disc, not certificate of deposit!  Then we all started laughing, including jack who wasn’t sure why we were laughing.  LOL!  I love that boy!
