Say hello to our newest little addition to our family.  Meet queen!    She’s an Italian Greyhound.  Isn’t she just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!?!  She’s staying with us for a while.  A friend of ours is going through some very hard times and couldn’t keep his dogs with him.  So we offered to take one of them in until he gets back on his feet. When I was in high school, friendship bracelets were all the rage.  I can remember sitting in class, with a safety pin pinned on my jeans, a knot of embroidery thread attached to the pin, and me making these bracelets through out the day.  The type of bracelets I made were more like macrame than weaving though.  So mine always came out with the same pattern, diagonal stripes.  Only the colors were different.  But I still made them constantly.  I think I wore 2 or three all the time and gave them to all my friends.  I wore them until they basically rotted off from all the showers… cuz of course I never took them off.  LOL!

So this weekend we decided that we needed a new BBQ.  Not because our old one wasn’t working, mostly because it’s just kinda old, and small and Lowes was having a sale on BBQ’s.  We stopped by there and looked at the ones they had on sale and found just about the perfect one for our family.  It’s a pretty big one, not horribly huge, but big enough to have 6 or so steaks on the grill, plus it has a side burner for sauces and a top rack for buns and things.  Since we were having a BBQ with my mom & sister for the 4th, we figured it was perfect and we got it.  Then the boys and Steve had to put it together.  hehehe, while I took pictures!  If I was going to have to be in the hot sun, I figured I would take some pictures of their progress!

This is a saying that my mom taught me as I was growing up.  “You cant’ make a second first impression”.  It means that no matter what you do, the first thing people see about you will be what they think of you most strongly.  If they see you as a nice, neat, clean cut person, then that’s how you will be treated by them.  If they see you as a punk, they’ll treat you like one… and they will for a very long time.

Favorite Poker Rooms

I absolutely love playing poker.  It’s my favorite past time.  The poker game that I always play is Texas Hold ‘Em, because it’s the game where you not only have to have skills in strategy and poker hands, but also in reading other players and how to use your chips to your advantage.  There is a lot of psychology that goes into playing Poker, which makes it a very mental game.  Which is one of the many reasons I love playing it.  It challenges me in so many ways, that I’m always learning something about myself and other people, and this translates over to life as well.  This is why I love playing poker so much!

Does that look like the face of a High Schooler???  NO!  Of course it doesn’t.  He’s not OLD enough to be in high school!  He’s just 1, damn it!  He’s my baby!  How can he be going into HIGH school??  I’m not old enough to have 2 teen agers in high school.  And yet, here I am… Barely in my 30′s (by barely I mean pushing 40) and I have two.. yes that’s right TWO children who will be in high school in the fall.

Recently I was in the market to get something unique, cute and perfect for my “not quite” Sister-In-Law for Mother’s Day.  It was her first Mother’s Day (sorta, cuz she’s been a step bonus Mom for a few years, but she just had her first baby last Nov.)  So Steve and I wanted to get her something really good for her.  Luckily we found something absolutely perfect!
