I am so sick and tired of “The Race Card” and the “Sex Card” being played all over the place in our society today.  From the NAACP “hearing things” from a Hallmark Graduation Card to NARAL becoming enraged by an OH court ruling against a woman about her maternity leave, all that’s being said and done is not about Equality, it’s all about trying to be treated MORE special than anyone else.  And it’s not only ridiculous, but irritating and time consuming!  Not to mention tax payer dollar consuming!!  And I’m just SICK AND TIRED OF IT!!!!

This is a saying that my mom taught me as I was growing up.  “You cant’ make a second first impression”.  It means that no matter what you do, the first thing people see about you will be what they think of you most strongly.  If they see you as a nice, neat, clean cut person, then that’s how you will be treated by them.  If they see you as a punk, they’ll treat you like one… and they will for a very long time.

One of the things that you’re supposed to do when trying to be successful in anything is to set goals for yourself.  I have tried many times to set goals and challenges for myself in various areas of my life.  From weight loss to blogging (or should that be from blogging to weight loss).  However, I find myself always falling short on my goals and challenges.  Almost like as soon as I set a goal for myself, I do everything possible to keep myself from actually reaching that goal!  It’s maddening, frustrating, irritating… just annoying the living crap out of me!

My Health:

So, After I was diagnosed with gallstones I stopped eating so much fat.  I ended up losing 15 lbs in almost as many days.  Then over the holidays, I didn’t stick to my diet and I gained 5 lbs back.  Well since New years, I’ve stuck to my diet much better and have lost 7 lbs so far.  I”m feeling really good, even cute!  So this whole “eating right” thing is working pretty nicely for me. So this is the situation.  A friend of mine, who I used to work with, is wanting to work with me in my company.  We need some money, and she could bring us in some money and more customers.  She would be more like an independant contractor, than a  partner, but she’d be working under our business name and such.  She’s good at her job, her people skills could use some improvement, but she’s not lazy by any means.

The biggest question is whether or not this is good enough for her to stick with us.  Why doesn’t she just create her own business?  Can she make enough money to make this worth it for her?  These are questions that are important to doing this.  Questions, that she may or may not be able/willing to answer.  But we’re all three going to talk tomorrow night about it.  Cuz if it works, this could bring in more money, and could make somethings a little easier on us.  Which would be nice.

Anyway, we’ll see how this all plays out!

So, Sunday I quit my job to start my own permit company.  I called my boss up Sunday night, and told him.  I was expecting some ranting and raving, but instead got a “wish I could tell ya good luck” and then a “well it’s been nice working with you.”  Not at all what I expected, and I breathed a sigh of relief.  So later that night, I emailed some of my customers to let them know that I was no longer working at my old company, and that I had started my own business.  Accidentally using my old companies email.  Yea I know, stupid stuipd stupid.  But oh well, so that happened, can’t take it back.

Anyway, the next morning I started calling a few of my customers, getting great responses.  No orders, but promises of soon.  I heard from a friend who still works at the company that my old boss was NOT happy.  But I knew that was going to happen.  But the day went along nicely.

Then I get a knock on my door.  My b/f goes to answer the door, and then comes back upstairs to tell me there’s a man at the door with an envelope for me.  Well of course my first thought was that it was a process server.  Then I got tot the door and saw that it was my boss!  Actually both of them!  They had driven all the way to Vegas from SoCal.

Needless to say I was shocked.  Shocked really isn’t a strong enough word.  They say they are there to bring me my last paycheck and to pick up their stuff.   Wow!  Ok, what do we do now???  So I did the absolutely worst thing, and let them into my house.  When all else fails, such as your brain, do the worst thing possible.  (note sarcasm).  They gather all of their stuff, put it in the truck and are still acting friendly and nice.  Then suddenly my old boss drops the bomb of we know you’re soliciting our customers, you signed a contract, and we’re going to sue you.  My sweetheart kicked them out of our house at this point.  I love him!

Then the next day, we got a “Cease & Desist” letter via fax, a process server tried to give us one in person, and then we got one via fed ex.  But we have a lawyer friend who is willing to represent us for trade.  Anyway, he says that my old boss can’t really stop me from contacting my old customers, or from doing business.  But it’s going to take some time to get the whole thing straightened out.

So this week has been very scary.  Worried about what I can or cannot do, worried about where the money is going to come from.  But I did still get some orders!  It’s just going to be a little harder, cuz we’re going to have to hunt down customers…. won’t be easy, but we’ll do it.  I’m just hoping we’ll be able to pay our bills until things get more straighted out.

So yesterday was Friday, and it felt like it was still tuesday.  My internal clock is all out of wack.  My blood pressure is up (well for me that’s probably on the high side of normal), and to top it all off…. I have pinkeye!!!  Sheesh, can you say BAD WEEK!

Well, at least we did get some orders and made a teensy bit of money during all this!  So it’ll be fine eventually!  LOL!
