Review – Tuxedo Junction Las Vegas
Tuxedo Junction Las Vegas
My oldest son is 16 and he’s in high school. He attends a charter school here in Las Vegas which is mostly homeschool, but once a week he goes to campus for “class” and has P.E. classes 2 times a week. The school has all sorts of cool things to participate in, including student council and a Prom! The prom is for all high school students, not just Juniors and Seniors. This is a formal event and has a theme of “The Red Carpet”. So Roger needed a Tux.
This is the first time I have ever had to go looking for a Tux. Well, sorta. Jack was in my niece’s wedding in 2004 and we had to get him a tux, but my niece did all the work on that one.. we just had to take him to the tux shop where my niece had set it up. What I didn’t realize is that we really should have started looking for a tux a long time ago… not the weekend before the Prom. LOL! But if there’s one thing I do well, it’s procrastinate!
Of course I went online to search for Tuxedo rental shops in town and wrote up a list of all the places around us that we could go. The nearest and first place we went was Men’s Warehouse. We walked into the store and the first thing the guy asked was if we were there to rent for the prom. PHEW! I was worried we’d have some trouble. LOL! Then he wanted to know when it was. When I told him that it was for the following Friday, he said that they’d have to charge us an extra $20 plus we’d have to “settle” for whatever they had available. When I asked him how much it’d cost, he said the regular price is $125. C-YA! I was not going to spend almost $150 bucks on a tux… waaaay too expensive! At least I hoped so… since that was the first place we went, I figured if the others were the same or more, we might come back.
The next two places we went were closed on Sundays, so they didn’t even get a chance to tell us how much money they’d cost us.
Then we went to Tuxedo Junction. They were hopping busy! But we signed in at the register and someone came to help us out almost immediately. She took us through their little store to show us the various styles of Tuxedo’s they have, they asked what color his date was going to wear, what style he wanted, and a bunch of other questions. They showed us vests, and bow ties, and shoes, and took Roger’s measurements. Made me feel like we were in good hands. It was even really great that one of the people in the store knew all about Roger’s school!
So our sales woman went in the back to gather up some clothes for Roger to try on and then came back about 10 minutes later with 2 different styles of Tuxedos. One of the ones we liked wasn’t available to try on, but she said they could still get it for his Prom if he really wanted it. So he tried on the shirt, tie, vest & Jackets. This is how he looked in them.
I liked both of them, but the one on the left (no, MY left) was a little more expensive than the one on the right. The left one is called “Mandarin” and the right is more traditional. We decided to go with the more traditional one. Actually, the sales woman (and I really wish I was better with names so I could give her credit for this), she actually helped to talk Roger into the less expensive one. I appreciated that quite a bit, considering money is an issue. Then he tried on his pants and shoes, and she finished getting all the right measurements and showing him how to adjust the waste-band. We were out of there in around 30 minutes!
AND to top it all off, the whole kit & caboodle only cost $85! That’s almost half of what it was going to cost at Men’s Warehouse, and I’m not even sure if that price included the shirt, vest, tie and shoes.. which it did at Tuxedo Junction! We go to pick it up on Thursday evening and I’ll be taking and posting tons of pictures on Friday, so stay tuned for an update to this post. We’ll be dropping back off again on Saturday on our way out to California for the weekend. So I’ll let you all know how the drop off goes. But if it’s anything like what we experienced at the store on Sunday, I think we’ll be just fine!
I have to say, that this was a great experience. They walked us through the process quickly and painlessly! And didn’t hurt my wallet either! I will definitely be recommending them to anyone who needs a Tux. Their sales people were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Their selection was great for any taste and any budget! So if you need to get a tux for a prom this year, I’d suggest going to Tuxedo Junction. They have locations in 16 different US states. And they also have a special $20 discount for all Prom rentals! So it’s definitely worth checking out!
