Do You Blog About Family?
So, last week I had a really bad week. Well, it was mostly good, but bad in parts. I had a fight with my sister and ended up giving in to her like a defeated adult gives in to a 2 year old’s temper tantrum. I was really tired from the Halloween/Samhain weekend and just couldn’t stand my ground with her. I wrote a big long blog post here about it, but before posting (because even though I don’t know if anyone in my family or my sister reads my blogs, they are all connected to me on facebook so could read it if they wanted to), I decided to just save it as a draft to cool off first. Which of course means it never got posted. LOL!
This reminds me of when I was a kid and my mom would get mad at someone or some company and write a 10 page letter (hand written on both sides) and never actually mail it to them. Well in this day and age, hitting that submit/send button is ALL TOO Easy, so you have to step back before hitting that button to decide if it’s really worth it. Thats why I don’t actually address those emails to anyone until AFTER I’m sure I want to send it. Then when I hit the send button it gives me an error saying “Cannot Send, No address selected”. LOL!
So now, a week later, I don’t feel so stressed and frustrated and don’t feel like posting my rant. Which is probably good, cuz it would have just fueled the fire and made more people upset, depending on who actually read it. Cuz I like to think that maybe my family reads my blogs…. then again, maybe I hope they don’t read them. Most of the time my blog posts are about stuff that I’m talking about with my friends and family anyway, but sometimes there are things that I blog about that I don’t know if I really want my family to read. And since most of my family is connected to me via Facebook, which is connected to my twitter account, which is automatically sent all of my posts from ALL of my blogs… well if there’s something in the blog that I don’t want my family to read, I’m SOL! In the end I have to either hold my breath waiting for the fall out or not post.
I tried doing the “anonymous blogger” kind of thing. Started a completely new blog specifically set up for just this purpose, to get stuff out without anyone I know reading it. But then I realized that part of the reason I wrote on my blogs was becasue I wanted people to read it. I didn’t really want to start all over in trying to find other people to read my “new” blog, when I already had an audience (albeit small). So what was the point in having a blog that no one read? I didn’t end up posting anything to it, so the purpose of the blog, to post things I didn’t want my family to read, was lost. So I’m back to square one in what to do with those kinds of posts. Do I post something that could upset the people I love, but need to get out, or do I just skip those posts and not rant and rave about my family issues?
What do you do? Are you friends with your family members on Facebook and Twitter? Do they read your blogs? If they do read your blogs, do you post about them?

I started a little family blog where I send relatives (since I usually have stuff they don’t need to be reading on my “real” blog). Yes, I blog about my family. Constantly.
