Wyndsong Writes

Well, first and foremost, the newest of new is the domain name.    It’s now WyndsongWrites.com.  So why the change?  I had originally bought the domain VegasAliens.com to have as a “Family” website.  I was going to have the boys start their own blog and all of our email addresses would go through that site.  Well… best maid plans of mice and men, right?  The boys haven’t warmed up to blogging like I have, and they prefer having their main email addresses on Yahoo, since they have yahoo messenger and all.  So there my blog was all alone in a subdomain.  Blech!  I finally got tired of that and decided to go find my own domain.

MANY years ago I had my own website with the domain of Wyndsong.org.  But I let that go a long long time ago.  And now it’s inhabited by a quartet which goes by Wyndsong.  Wyndsong.com is a link farm, and wyndsong.net is all about a dog.  So, those are all out.  I had to figure out something good though.  I thought about WyndsongBlog but, well…. yuck.  Then I found WyndsongWrites.com  Well that just fits perfectly with my “everything” blog.  I write about everything on here, don’t I?  So it fits nicely.

That’s the story of my new domain. 

The other thing that’s new is my theme.  I love themes!  But finding the one that fits your site and personality perfectly is very difficult to do.  I search and download and upload and preview and test and start all over again a million times before I settle on a theme that I sorta like for the moment.  But so often they just don’t fit perfectly, and certainly don’t work for very long.

I’ve tried tweeking them and creating my own, but…. well I don’t know CSS that well, and really don’t have the time or patience to learn it.  Then October came along, with my birthday!  I’ve been looking into this seemingly great program called Artisteer, which is a theme generator.  Not just for Wordpress either.  It does Joomla, drupal, wordpress, html, & blogger!  It’s a little expensive though.  However, with my birthday coming up AND the fact that it does Joomla templates as well, I was able to talk my wonderful Honey into buying the program for me!

Already I love it!!!!  I”ll probably change my theme a lot for a while.  LOL!  Mostly because I”m still learning how to make it look exactly like I want.  I’ll be having fun with it too, of course.  All of my pages will be changing around and looking new.  Evenutally I’m going to have the various themes I come up with available for anyone to download.  There’s some good themes out there, but not so many for pagans or new agers or even homeschoolers.  Very few niche type themes, and I’d like to fill that gap.  LOL!  So let me know what  you think of my blog and the themes that pop up now and then.  I’ll be blogging about them and let people download them as I release them for public consumption.  And if you have any suggestions, please let me know!
