The Ant & The Grasshoper – Old & New Version
Found this on A Moderate Conservative’s blog. I’ve seen it before, but hadn’t had a chance to post it yet.
THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER
Two Different Versions! Two Different Morals!
Hopelessly Hooked On Project Runway
Do you watch it? OMG! I love this show and have from the very beginning. Mostly I think because my mom was always such a talented seamstress, and I always wished I could be like her. I can’t, and really have NO desire to learn to sew or design clothes. But this is such a fun show!
This widget is from the Lifetime website for Project Runway. These are my top three picks of the contestants this season. Who do you like?
Fun Stuff – 32 St Blog Parade
One of the cute blogs that I follow had this post today. It’s an interview to get to know her better and it’s part of the 32nd st Blog Parade this week. I liked it so much that I thought I’d join in. So here is the link to parade and my answers to the questions. Hope you enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »
“You’re Not Handicapped Enough”
That’s basically what my doctor said to me on Saturday. I went in saturday to see my doctor so I could get a refill on my perscriptions, talk to him about a few minor issues, and get my handicapp placard renewed. Relatively easy, non-controversial stuff, or so I thought. You see, my back isn’t just bad, sore, or out of shape, it’s actually broken. You know, BROKEN! It has been broken for 20 years now (wow! It was 20 years ago Feb. 10th!) So how could I be “too healthy” to need a handicapped placard??? But that’s exactly what he said to me, I can walk, I don’t need a wheel chair or oxygen, so in his mind, I’m too healthy to get a handicapped placard. Read the rest of this entry »
The Wonder Woman 30 Day Challenge
I found out about this wonderful little challenge on Facebook. Several of my friends there had joined and invited me to join as well. Sileen Nixon is a wonderful woman, who I had already been following on Twitter, who helps people see the positive. I love following positive people on Twitter, because they generally send out wonderful little tweets to put a smile on your face. This Wonder Woman challenge is a free group that helps you to remember to nurture yourself as a woman, just 15 minutes a day will help. So I thought, I’d post about it here and share my journey through nurturing myself for the next 30 days.
12 Pounds & 1 Grey Hair
Valentines day was Sunday. Steve and I went out to play some poker tournaments, including a “Couples” tournament. We had fun, even if we didn’t win anything. I wore some jeans, that I was finally able to fit into again. I started fitting into them a few weeks ago after I lost 15 lbs because of my gallstones. Well Sunday, when I put those jeans on, fresh from the dryer, it seemed that they fit me a little better than they had before. I didn’t take the time to weight myself, mostly because I had been cheating a little to much and last week I had a mild gall bladder attack. Then yesterday I woke up, and went straight to the scale (ok, maybe not straight to the scale.. I went potty first). I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what the scale said!! I am down to….. drum roll please……………………………………………………………………………………

Miss Vagaygay
I don’t know exactly how this is going to work. I”m not really very good about talking about my private bits, but then again it wouldn’t be called a “challenge” if it was easy to do. Over at Renegade Moms they are calling for a Vagina Monologue-esqe writing Challenge, and being that I love a challenge… well lets just say it was like a triple dog dare to me. So here’s my little contribution…
Updates
My Health:
So, After I was diagnosed with gallstones I stopped eating so much fat. I ended up losing 15 lbs in almost as many days. Then over the holidays, I didn’t stick to my diet and I gained 5 lbs back. Well since New years, I’ve stuck to my diet much better and have lost 7 lbs so far. I”m feeling really good, even cute! So this whole “eating right” thing is working pretty nicely for me. Another Look
So I find myself with an answer that I asked for a while ago. I’ve worried about my weight off and n over the years. As I get older my matabolism has gotten ess active, and with my back my ability to be active physically has waned. So I’ve found myself gaining weight and having less ability to lose it easily.
One of the problems is that I really don’t worry about my weight too much. Ive never been overly self conscious about my weight and have rebelled against the “skinny” image that the media shoves down our throats. Plus I’m just a little lazy….ok a lot lazy too. So finding the motivation to exercise and eat right is really difficult for me to do. And since I have an abslutely fabulous boyfriend who loves me know matter what my size is, well there’s not motivation there either. LOL.
So really the only way to get me motivated to eat better is to make it physically difficult to eat. I thought about getting a Lap Band to decrease my stomache size and it would also make it harder for me to eat various foods too. But it is rather expensive to have that surgery done and kinda frivolous too…. at least in my mind for me it is.
Well the Universe gave me the next best thing….. gallstones. I have to watch the amount of food I eat, or I start to hurt. I can’t eat certain foods, or I start to hurt. So it is forcing me to eat less and healthier or else!
So silver lining of all this icky health stuff is that I will probably end up losing a ton of weight. LOL Be careful what you wish for, because you WILL get it! hehehhehe
Fun Times Just Before a Holiday
If you follow me at all on Twitter or Facebook you’ll already know a little bit about what’s been going on this week. It started Saturday with what I thought was just a gas bubble under my ribs. I went to be with a lot of pain, but expecting it to be gone in the morning. It didn’t go away. It did get worse though. By Monday I was in enough pain that I went to the Dr. He said it was my gall bladder and that I’d probably need it removed right away. He wanted me to get an ultrasound, took some blood tests and some x-rays and told me to go directly to the ER if things got worse. Well, they did. I went to the ER yesterday and got the ultrasound, took more blood tests, more x-rays and they came back with a diagnosis of “Gallstones”. They said that my gall bladder isn’t infected so there’s no rush to have it removed, but it won’t really get better either. I”m supposed to watch what I eat and talk to a surgeon about getting my gall bladder removed.
I”m in a lot of pain and my nausea is really bad too. The only thing that I”m supposed to watch out for is my gall bladder getting infected, which the only other sign to all the pain and nausea is a high temperature. So I’m keeping a watch on that, cuz that would be the only thing that will tell me that I need to ruse to the ER again. Doesn’t that sound like fun??
So what are the foods I’m supposed to avoid? Basically everything I love…. Fats and Spicey. So from now on I have to eat bland rabbit food. Which, I have been doing lately anyway becasue I haven’t felt up to eating anything other than soup or salad, and I’m still having major pains. So, I get to eat plain boring food and still hurt. Great deal!! NOT!
On top of all that I find out that Zynga (the company who makes all those really great games for Facebook and Myspace) has charged our business credit card $200. How they got the card number and what the charges are for I have no clue. I love playing those games, but I would NEVER pay for anything to do with those games, espeically not $200 bucks worth! One time I bought some extra coins for a game, not one done by Zynga, and I went through those coins so fast it wasn’t worth it. So I’ve never bought anything for the games since then, and that was about 6 months ago that I did that. And I used my PayPal account, not even my personal credit card, for that. So somehow Zynga or someone else, got our business credit card number and used it. So now we have to get those charges reversed, change our card numbers and deal with all of that crap.
THEN I got an email card from my dad for thanksgiving today. And somehow he forgot that I have two sons. He address the card to me and Rodger (note the mispelling as well), but not to Jack. Every time I think that maybe my Dad isn’t so bad and I should give him a chance to be a part of our lives (more than just on Facebook), he does something like this. How do you forget that you have TWO grandsons? I’d say that maybe because we don’t talk and such that maybe it’s an understandable omission, but we are connected on facebook, and I talk about the boys all the time. So, there’s no reason for him to forget. It’s just crazy!!
So that’s how my week has gone so far. I’ve spent a ton of money on Dr’s without getting anything really taken care of. Got ripped off by some company through facebook and my dad forgets one of his grandsons. Fun times!
Do You Blog About Family?
So, last week I had a really bad week. Well, it was mostly good, but bad in parts. I had a fight with my sister and ended up giving in to her like a defeated adult gives in to a 2 year old’s temper tantrum. I was really tired from the Halloween/Samhain weekend and just couldn’t stand my ground with her. I wrote a big long blog post here about it, but before posting (because even though I don’t know if anyone in my family or my sister reads my blogs, they are all connected to me on facebook so could read it if they wanted to), I decided to just save it as a draft to cool off first. Which of course means it never got posted. LOL! Read the rest of this entry »
What’s New Boogaloo?
Well, first and foremost, the newest of new is the domain name. It’s now WyndsongWrites.com. So why the change? I had originally bought the domain VegasAliens.com to have as a “Family” website. I was going to have the boys start their own blog and all of our email addresses would go through that site. Well… best maid plans of mice and men, right? The boys haven’t warmed up to blogging like I have, and they prefer having their main email addresses on Yahoo, since they have yahoo messenger and all. So there my blog was all alone in a subdomain. Blech! I finally got tired of that and decided to go find my own domain.
Free Cookbooks & Recipes
I love cooking. I have always loved cooking, and to be honest, I’m not that bad at it. I’d like to say I”m pretty good, but well, I just hate to brag and really have a hard time giving myself a compliment. However, most of the people that have tasted the various things I have cooked, like what I’ve done.
That’s as far as I can go with giving myself a compliment. Anyway….. one of the great things about the internet is all the wonderful FREE things you can find online. And when it comes to cooking there is a ton… and I do mean a literal TON!
Did you Watch The Good Wife?
If you haven’t watched the new series “The Good Wife” on CBS yet, you really should! I loved it! Chris Noth plays a scandalous politician who cheated on his wife with a prostitute. His wife is played by Julianna Margulies, who tries to pick up her life after the scandal. This is one of those shows that I just immediately loved as soon as I watched the first episode! I can’t wait to see more!
